From All in a Weekend:

We speak with Vivian Valencia, Bishop's University research chair research chair in the Sustainable Agriculture and Climate Action about bringing together artists, farmers and researchers to imagine a future for food production that is sustainable, just and equitable. They'll all be at the table for what's being called The First Supper. We also speak with her partner, Marc-Antoine Joncas Zaraté, co-owner of the Montreal restaurant Terroirs.

From January 17 to March 22, 2025, Pop-Up exhibition series showcases the artworks of artists Faustine Escoffier and François Lapierre, created as part of “The First Supper” project, at the invitation of Dr. Vivian Valencia, Research Chair in Sustainable Agriculture and Climate Action at Bishop’s University. The First Supper symbolizes the inaugural meal of a future we wish to see: a world in which food systems are sustainable, fair and equitable. In September 2024, a visioning workshop provided an opportunity to think collectively about “new” agri-food systems. Farmers, academics, students, food industry and agricultural professionals, and artists were invited to reflect on existing alternatives that could serve as lighthouses, as well as to imagine creative ideas for the future. Escoffier and Lapierre then created their own works, inspired by the narratives developed during the exercise.
